Supporting Mothers Through Building Community

Supporting Moms

This year I am focusing on supporting moms, particularly moms with neurodiverse children. I understand firsthand how challenging it can be to meet other moms that are in a similar situation as you and that building connections is such a vital way to support ourselves and our families. I am a firm believer that the more people that love your children, the better. It's important to me to have friends that support my kids, love them, and show them community. As important as it is for my kids, it is also hugely important to my own well-being to be surrounded by people that love me and accept my family as we are.

This Spring, at This World's Ours Centre, we are starting a series of Moms Workshops that are aimed to specifically support mothers with neurodiverse kids. The purpose is to bring moms together to connect, engage in workshops geared towards them, and support a local charity.

On April 10th, join Gillian Behnke for an interactive workshop about putting yourself back on your priority list. In this interactive workshop, you’ll create your own Priority Mom Pyramid to clarify what’s most important, allowing you to focus your time and energy where it really counts. You will walk away with a simple, powerful tool to help you say yes to what serves you and no to what doesn’t. It’s time to put yourself back on your priority list!

On May 8th, join Jenna Maye for an interactive workshop of moving your body. If you’ve been wanting to start moving your body but feel overwhelmed about where to begin, this workshop is for you. This session is designed to take the guesswork out of where to start moving your body, making it approachable, effective, and easy to sustain. You don’t need to follow rigid programs or spend hours in the gym; you just need a plan that works for real life.

On June 12th, join Lauren Bohl to talk about managing stress. The constant demands of parenting a neurodivergent child—managing school systems, medical care, sensory needs, and social situations can take a serious toll on your mental and physical health. In this interactive workshop, you’ll explore the four pillars of effective stress management and practice techniques to help you regain balance.

I hope to see you at one or all of the workshops this Spring. I am excited to participate alongside you and be part of your community.

I hope that some of this resonates with you and if you ever need someone to connect with, I love speaking with parents about this journey. You can find me at This World's Ours Centre in Vancouver.

Take care,

Koryn
